David Granger: Cyprus remains an important voice

Cyprus, although a small country, remains an important voice in the international community, with Guyana looking forward to deepening cooperation within the Commonwealth, the European Union and the United Nations, especially in matters of international security, peace, and climate change. said the President of Guyana David Granger during the presentation of the Credentials of the new High Commissioner of Cyprus, based in Brazil, Charalambos Kafkaridis.

During a speech at the ceremony, the President of Guyana reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for Cyprus' independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Mr Granger stressed that Guyana rejects the use of force as a means of resolving disputes, and expressed support for the Cypriot people's right to own and own all of their natural resources.

Mr Kaukaridis expressed Cyprus' deep appreciation for Guiana's stance on the Cyprus issue, as well as for the country's commitment to respecting international law. He added that Cyprus attaches great importance to strengthening its relations with Guyana, both bilaterally and multilaterally. He noted that the two countries have signed a number of bilateral agreements, while discussing the completion of additional agreements.

During his visit to Guyana, Mr. Kafkaridis met with Foreign Minister Carl Greenidge, as well as with other officials. During his contacts, ways were discussed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of tourism, shipping and education.
