The meeting between the two leaders did not result in the desired outcome for the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, who, leaving the meeting, said that "talking nonsense does not help the Cyprus problem."
The President reiterated at another point in his statements that the executive branch cannot interfere with the powers of the judiciary, responding to Ersin Tatar's protests on the issue of the prosecution of usurpers of Greek Cypriot property in the occupied territories.
"There is no interference by the executive branch in the judiciary in any democratic country. We have said this many times," he specifically emphasized.
As for the statement on the process itself, it was made in English. President Christodoulides said that “it was not the result I expected. The 'Yavas - Javans' approach to the Cyprus problem does not work.”
