The President of the Democratic Rally, Ms. Annita Dimitriou, announced today the appointment of Mr. Panagiotis Mauris to the position of Head of the Tourism Portfolio in the Government Project Monitoring Council.
Ms. Dimitriou thanked Mr. Mauris for his long-standing presence and contribution to the Democratic Rally, as well as for his contribution to the party's efforts during the recent elections, expressing the certainty that he will respond responsibly and consistently to his new duties.
As the President of DISY stated, Mr. Mauris' experience in local government, his knowledge of the tourism industry, as well as his active participation in civic life, constitute important assets for the effective exercise of his new duties.
Ms. Demetriou underlined that tourism is one of the most important pillars of the Cypriot economy. She noted that specific policies are required to enhance competitiveness, upgrade the tourism product, extend the tourist season and support businesses and employees in the sector.
