Actions to prevent damage to forests are announced by the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, is issuing a notice for the prevention of damage to forests due to forest fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events, with a budget of €800.000.

As stated in the announcement of the Ministry, as the Administrative Authority of the Rural Development Program 2014 - 2020, in cooperation with the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization and the Department of Forestry, they announce for the third time Regulation 8.3 entitled: "Prevention of damage to forests due to forest fires , natural disasters and catastrophic events", the main purpose of which is to strengthen and improve the existing system of protection of forests and wooded areas from fires.

It is added that eligible actions in this announcement are the creation and maintenance of protective infrastructure such as the construction of water reservoirs and the installation of fire safety systems, as well as the installation and improvement of facilities and communication equipment to monitor forest fires, such as the construction of firebreaks and the development and improvement of an existing telecommunications system.

It is pointed out that the beneficiaries of the Statute depending on the action are the Forestry Department, the Local Self-Government Authorities, the Ecclesiastical, Monastic and other Religious Authorities, as well as their natural entities or associations.

The total budget that will be allocated for the implementation of actions within the framework of the 3rd announcement of the Status amounts to €800.000, which will be co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Those interested can submit their applications until July 31, 2024.
