The politician Pantelis Kouros passed away at the age of 89, as broadcast by SigmaLive. He served as Deputy Minister despite the President of Cyprus under the government of Glafkos Clerides.

Pantelis Kouros was born in Nicosia on December 10, 1932. He attended the Pancyprian High School. He attended college-level courses in Public Relations and Business Administration.

He was one of the founding members of the Nicosia Fighters' Union, the Pancyprian United Fighters Front and the Pancyprian National Youth Organization, in which he held the position of General Organizer and Assistant Secretary General.

He was the Director of the Operations Office of the Civil Defense and attended courses in Emergency Planning in Greece. During the Turkish invasion of 1974 he took over the position of Chief of Civil Defense.

From 1953 he held a managerial position in a group of companies in Nicosia.

In 1962 he married Ourania Tsakiri who passed away in 1989. He has a son and a daughter. His brother was Andreas Kouros.

In 1969 he was one of the close associates of Glafkos Clerides when he founded the United Party. On July 23, 1974, when Glafkos Clerides took office as President of the Republic, he was appointed liaison of the Presidency with the Central Intelligence Service (KYP).

From the founding of the Democratic Alarm in 1976 to 1993, he held the position of Director of the Political Office of the President of the party, Glafkos Clerides. On April 30, 1993, he was appointed Deputy Minister of the Government of Glafkos Clerides, in spite of the President.

He continued in the same position in the Government of Glafkos Clerides 1998. He remained in this position until the end.
