The independent candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, continues his contacts in Athens. Yesterday afternoon, he met with the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos and the president of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras, while in the evening he was invited to the main news bulletin of ERT where he gave an interview.

Turkey's ongoing challenges both towards Greece and towards Cyprus as manifested daily through the statements of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and other Turkish officials, the Cyprus issue and the role that the EU can play in efforts to resolve the problem, but also in safeguarding International Law and the sovereign rights of Greece and Cyprus, were among the topics discussed by Mr. Christodoulidis with the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens.

The current developments, the Greek-Turkish and the Cypriot issues were on the agenda of the meeting of the independent candidate for the presidency of the Republic with the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos.

Nikos Christodoulidis and Nikos Panagiotopoulos also discussed defense cooperation between Greece and the Republic of Cyprus.

Nikos Christodoulidis' contacts in Athens also include meetings with the political leadership.

Late in the afternoon, Mr. Christodoulidis met with the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, with whom he discussed the situation as it is developing in relation to the ongoing war in Ukraine, how it affects European citizens, especially the Greeks and Cypriots, as well as ways tackling inflation and supporting citizens. Greek-Turkish challenges and the Cyprus issue were also discussed.

Nikos Christodoulidis' contacts in Athens continue today, the third day of his stay in the Greek capital, with meetings with the Minister of Immigration and Asylum Notis Mitarakis, the Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis and the Secretary General of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas.
