The Committee of Occupied Municipalities, in its session on Wednesday after the assumption of duties of the new Mayors resulting from the Local Government elections on June 9, 2024, elected as President of the Committee, unanimously and without an opponent, the Mayor of Famagusta, Dr. Simos Ioannou, and as Vice-President of the Committee, also unanimously and without an opponent, the Mayor of Karavas, Nikos Hatzistefanos.

As stated in an announcement, upon completion of the elections, the members expressed their thanks to the outgoing members of the Committee of Occupied Municipalities and congratulated the re-elected and newly elected Mayors.

Afterwards, they proceeded to an exchange of views and coordination regarding both the operation of the Commission and its future actions.
