The drafting of the bill for the modernization of the Gymnast Registration Law of 1995, which regulates the practice of the gymnast profession in the Republic, has been completed, according to the Office of the Commissioner for Legislation.
In a statement by the Office of the Commissioner for Legislation, it is stated that the drafting of the bill was assigned to the Commissioner for Legislation in February 2024 by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic. The process was carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry and the Gymnast Registration Council.
The bill entitled "The Gymnast Registration Law of 2025" regulates the practice of the gymnasium profession in the Republic, maintaining the basic provisions and terms of the current legislation of 1995, while at the same time strengthening and modernizing the existing framework.
Furthermore, it states that it establishes the Gymnast Registration Council as the independent body responsible for the registration of gymnasts and provides for the creation of the "Council Fund" and the appointment of a Registrar, in accordance with the provisions of other legislation applicable to other professions. At the same time, the "Register of Registered Gymnasts" is established.
The bill determines the qualifications for registration in the register, the application procedure, as well as the procedures for deletion and re-registration. It also includes regulations regarding the annual license to practice the profession, its renewal, as well as the temporary practice of the profession of gymnast by citizens of the European Union and third countries. In addition, it provides for disciplinary procedures concerning the profession of gymnast.
