Former DISY MP Evgenios Champoulas announced his decision to leave the Democratic Alarm.
“With deep respect for the history of our country and with a sense of responsibility towards my path in political life, I announce today my departure from the Democratic Rally. Where I started is no longer what I believed,” he says, adding that “the course followed by the party leadership in recent years brings me to a deep existential dilemma: to remain silent on something that no longer expresses me or to stand clearly outside of it?”
It is not about bitterness, he adds, “but about an act of political responsibility in order to align myself with my conscience” and states that “I cannot and will never go along with choices and silences that do not express me.” “I leave with my head held high, grateful for the experiences and people I met, the battles we fought when the goals were clear,” says Mr. Chamboulas.
