According to his information, the Ministry of Transport is investigating the possibility of issuing a decree regarding the companies' charges for replacing the problematic Takata airbags, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, told the parliamentary Audit Committee.

The Minister attended the Audit Committee, during which a report by the Audit Service for his Ministry was discussed.

Responding to a question from DIPA MP Alekos Tryfonidis about companies that charge the public for inspections for problematic airbags, the Minister said that there are two pieces of legislation on the issue. The first pertains to the Consumer Protection Service and the second to the Department of Road Transport and falls under the Ministry of Transport.

As the Minister said, according to his information, the second law is being processed within the Ministry of Transport and the possibility of issuing a relevant decree by the Minister of Transport is being investigated.
