The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) informs that a large number of public schools in Cyprus have received, this morning, emails with the same content and from the same sender.

From the first moment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was in constant communication with the Cyprus Police, for the most efficient and fastest possible management of the issue, with the safety of the students, teachers and the rest of the school staff as the primary concern. In this direction, relevant instructions were given to the Directorates of the schools, while a meeting was convened, in which the Chief of Police, the General Director (DG) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and relevant officials participated. After the end of the meeting, the Cyprus Police issued a relevant announcement, which is attached.

Subsequently, the General Director of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Marina Ioannou-Hasapi, convened a new meeting in her Office, with the aim of informing organized parents and educational organizations about the actions taken and the latest developments on the matter. During the meeting, the absolute satisfaction of everyone was expressed for the smooth conclusion of this difficult and complex issue, as well as for the correct actions taken by the Cyprus Police, the Ministry of the Interior, the schools and the teachers themselves.

It is noted that the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Dr. Athena Michailidou, who is abroad representing the Republic of Cyprus, was informed from the first moment about the matter and was in constant communication with the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding its handling.
