Ieronymos to Christodoulidis: We accept the President of a piece of Greece

The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, had a meeting today with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Hieronymus II, in the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic mentioned, among other things, that his visit to Greece was not only symbolic, but also of essential importance, taking into account the developments in our region and the general challenges, while he added that it is a difficult moment for Hellenism, due to the tragic accident in Tempe.

He added that "all of us who are in positions of power, with an expiration date because we must never forget this, must do everything possible to not experience such situations again."

The President of the Republic referred to yesterday's and today's meetings and noted the need to create conditions to restart the dialogue on the Cyprus issue. He also noted that the passage of time creates new fait accompli, further removes the possibility of finding a solution that can be acceptable to the Greek Cypriots, underlining, however, that despite the difficulties we are aware of we will do everything possible to create them the conditions.

He stressed that Cyprus and Greece must work together with other countries that embrace our approach, so that we can reach the goal of liberation.

Finally, he expressed the thanks of the Cypriot people for the support of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and said that he looks forward to meeting His Beatitude again in Cyprus.

For his part, Makariotatos said, among other things, that "we are happy because we are not just accepting the head of a state, we are accepting the President of a part of Greece and that is how we lived it, we are still living it, and we would like it to continue, and to be strong and united and to progress. We are in the new age with many temptations and difficulties, a great struggle is needed.

The information we have about your path, life and choices is both heartwarming and hopeful. All that remains is for all of us to wish that you will rise as you have aimed and that you will succeed as you want", said Archbishop Hieronymos.
