The new school year begins amid dozens of innovations, reforms and new actions, which will gradually lead to the realization of a modern, human-centered, democratic and inclusive school, said Friday the Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letympiotis, in his opening statement during the briefing to the media at the Presidential Palace.
Mr. Letymiotis said that today is the first day for more than 48 thousand students of Secondary General and Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, in 119 school units throughout Cyprus, where more than 7.500 teachers serve.
"The new school year begins with the best conditions, in normal conditions, in the midst of dozens of innovations, reforms and new actions, which will gradually lead us to the realization of our vision of a modern, human-centered, democratic and inclusive school," he said.
Mr. Letympiotis referred indicatively to actions concerning the restructuring of the Analytical Programs and the reduction of the material, the improvement of teaching and learning conditions, including the installation of air conditioning devices, the modernization of the All-Day School, the transition from Special to Unified Education, in the introduction of intervention programs to prevent and deal with violence/delinquency and illiteracy, in the upgrading of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, in the transition to the digital school, in the further strengthening and expansion of Pre-Primary Education and in the further empowerment of teachers.
