Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides "issued a" red card "in Turkey to the EU General Affairs Council for the preparation of the conclusions of the Summit.

During the discussion on EU-Turkey relations, the minister explained to his counterparts that Cyprus is firmly convinced that "Turkey does not meet the Copenhagen criteria, while noting that it is increasingly moving away from European standards and principles." Finally, in the field of Defense and Security, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the full support of Cyprus to the ongoing Permanent Structured Cooperation, which should be shaped in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty and respecting the principles of transparency. non-exclusion and autonomy of the EU, with the exclusive beneficiaries being its member states.
