Preparation for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU is proceeding intensively at all levels, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Rauna said in her statements after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
As he noted, December is a landmark month for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, which begins in January 2026.
"We are one year before the start of the Presidency, with an intensification of our preparations, while December is the month in which the joint Priority Program of the Presidency Trio, which Cyprus together with Poland and Denmark, will present, for the eighteen months from January 2025 until June 2026", he emphasized.
Ms. Rauna also said that after the end of today's session of the Council of Ministers, there was a special presentation and briefing of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers regarding the European Parliament by the head of the Department of Relations with the European Parliament at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus in Brussels, in view of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU from Cyprus and mainly in the context of its role in the EU legislative process.
He added regarding the above that during the Cypriot Presidency the members of the Council of Ministers, in addition to presiding over the Ministerial Sessions of the Council of the EU, will represent the Council before the European Parliament.
In closing, he said that on December 17, the eighteen-month Priorities Program of Poland, Denmark and Cyprus will be presented and adopted at the General Affairs Council, and the Program will be made public, in view of the start of the Polish Presidency on January 2025, XNUMX.
