Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis mentioned the Cyprus problem during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington.
The two leaders' meeting, which lasted for about 45 minutes, was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries and the heads of their diplomatic offices.
According to Greek government sources, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that 50 years after the tragedy of 1974, Cyprus, a member state of the EU, cannot remain divided and reiterated the need to restart talks to resolve the Cyprus issue.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Tayyip Erdogan have scheduled their next meeting in September in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
