Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the importance of yesterday's meeting between the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides and the American President Joe Biden, during his introductory statement to the Council of Ministers, speaking of a significant upgrade of Cyprus' relations with the USA.
As noted by Mr. Mitsotakis, who is expected to meet with President Christodoulidis shortly, yesterday's meeting between the Cypriot President and the American President at the White House marks "the first visit by the leader of Cyprus in 28 years".
"It is an important proof of the upgrading of Megalonisos' relations with the United States, but also of its importance as a pole of stability in an unstable environment of conflicts, which unfortunately continue in the Middle East", assessed the Greek Prime Minister.
At the same time, he noted that this specific meeting demonstrates "the benefits to which active diplomacy leads, which is based on the constant coordination between Athens and Nicosia".
Referring to the Cyprus issue, Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out: "I don't want to appear neither optimistic nor pessimistic, but I remain in one conclusion: that from a point of international immobility, Cyprus and the resolution of the Cyprus issue are now viewed as part of the solution in the equation of most sensitive area on the world map and that this change of perspective can be transformed, I hope, into a change of page".
