The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, urged the new members of the Council of Ministers to work tirelessly, during the confirmation ceremony that took place at 09.00 on Monday morning, at the Presidential Palace.

New Ministers are Minister of Energy Michalis Damianos, Minister of Labor Marinos Mousiouttas, Minister of Justice Konstantinos Fytiris, Minister of Health Neophytos Charalambides and Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Klea Hatzistefanou Papaellina. At the same time, Marios Hartsiotis is appointed to the position of Commissioner for the Presidency.

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, in his address told the new members of the Cabinet that they are taking over the baton at a particularly demanding time, with significant challenges "in the great effort to change our country", while emphasizing that in a few days the Republic of Cyprus will assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

He urged them to work tirelessly, to be informed about all the issues of their portfolio, utilizing the human resources and technocrats of the Ministry. At the same time, he called on them to listen to citizens and society and to do whatever is required for fair, legitimate and justified requests. He also asked them to serve the public interest on the basis of legality and to act with commitment to the principle of transparency and to strictly adhere to the code of ethics.

On the part of the new officials, the new Minister of Energy Michalis Damianos stated that they wish to be evaluated on the basis of transparency and respect for the values ​​of democracy and meritocracy. He stated that they are determined to meet these requirements with integrity and professionalism.

"We are prepared to make difficult decisions for the good of the country even if they require political costs," he said.
