Yannis Karousos was elected Vice-President of the Democratic Alarm, without an opponent, the party announced after the end of the nomination process.
The process of submitting nominations for the vacant position of Vice President of DISY was completed as usual at 13:00 on Wednesday, January 8.
The DISY in the relevant announcement mentions that the session of the party's Supreme Council will be held jointly with the Pan-Cypriot Congress on February 15.
Meanwhile, Mr. Karousos, submitting his candidacy, stated that this constitutes a "statement of his determination" to work hard for DISY by joining forces with all members of the leadership so that "we can vigorously claim the best for DISY, with clear political positions and appetite, far from personal benefits".
Mr. Karousos also stated that the parliamentary elections of 2026 are of critical importance for his party, especially considering the eventful period that preceded it and the responsibility it bears as the Official Opposition.
He added that the time has come for individuals and personalities who love, hurt and care about DISY, to allocate their political capital, put their backs and come forward for the good of the party and the future of the country.
He added that with bold reforms, strong leadership and openness to the voter base, the party's leadership can turn the page and lead DISY where it really deserves for the good of Cyprus society.
