EDEK General Director Morfakis Solomonidis announced his candidacy for the party's presidency.
As he states in his statement, he is announcing his candidacy "at a defining period, not just for our party, but for the very course of socialism in our homeland. I declare my presence for a new starting point - with deep respect for our historical path, but also with the courage to shake off what binds us."
His candidacy, he adds, is based on five innovative proposals, the creation of a digital consultation platform 'Digital Democracy with Direct Participation', the formation of a youth group "EDEK NEXT: Youth in Action", the formation of a scientific group for the "Social Inequalities Observatory", the establishment of a National Strategy Institute "Vassos Lyssaridis" and the creation of a Transparency Observatory.
"I address all EDEKites – to those who remain active, but also to those who have distanced themselves, become bitter, become silent or felt that they may have been forgotten. Return to our base. EDEK is our home and it is time to open its doors wide to everyone. Without exclusion, egos or labels. With respect, unity and collective responsibility," he says.
