The President of the Democratic Party, Nikolas Papadopoulos, sent a letter to the Ambassador of Slovakia, with which he informs that "as a sign of protest against the illegal arrest and detention of Andreas Soutziis by the occupying regime and until this illegality is lifted, neither the neither himself nor any other member of DIKO at the bi-communal meeting of party leaders or representatives, organized by the Slovak Ambassador on September 21, with the speaker being the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus, Colin Stewart".
The President of DIKO points out that the illegal arrest and detention of Andreas Soutzii is the latest in a series of provocative actions by the occupying regime, such as the further escalation of illegal and expansive actions in Varosi, as well as the harassment and threats against Greek farmers by Turkish soldiers in the dead zone.
Finally, Mr. Papadopoulos emphasizes that these provocative and illegal actions of the occupying regime should neither be tolerated nor accepted. Therefore, it calls on the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus to exert the necessary pressure to lift the illegal detention of Andreas Soutzii and ensure his return to his family.
