We need to build trust and the way is by listening to both leaders and their concerns, said the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin.
In statements after the meeting he had with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar in occupied Nicosia, he said that they had a very good and productive meeting and that he listened to Mr. Tatar very carefully "about his concerns, about the property issue."
She added that they discussed the Confidence Building Measures agreed upon in March at the Geneva meeting “because we need to have results for the next meeting in July.” Ms. Holguin said the next meeting would be held in New York, however, United Nations sources clarify that the new meeting will again take place in Geneva.
"We will work, I will do my best to provide a bridge so that we can get results," he stressed.
Ms. Holguin recalled that she also had a meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides, with whom she also discussed what was agreed in Geneva.
"I think this is a good start, we need to build trust and this is the way to do it, listening to both leaders and their concerns," he concluded.
