A demonstration outside the Presidential Palace on Sunday afternoon is planned by AKEL with the General Secretary, Stefanos Stefanou calling "the citizens who are suffocating from the situation to demonstrate with us" and stating that "we stand against the system of corruption and cover-up".
In his statement, Mr. Stefanou added that after yesterday's developments with the suspension of the Auditor General "no one has the right to remain indifferent to the system of institutional entanglement and corruption that has been set up in recent years by the Anastasiades-Synaermou administration" .
A system, he continues "that seriously exposes our country internationally. A system that sows society's suspicion towards institutions and degrades the rule of law. A system that covers up scandals and protects their protagonists by preventing control, transparency and accountability."
The General Secretary of AKEL said that the glass of society's indignation has overflowed. "We continue to stand resolutely against the System of Corruption and Cover Up. We demand that the abscess of triggers be broken. The President and his Government have the primary and decisive responsibility for this."
The entanglement and corruption, he added, are not dealt with by statements, but by actions that no one has ever seen on the part of the rulers. "We stand against the system of corruption and cover-up," he said, saying that with this demand they will demonstrate on Sunday outside the Presidential Palace.
