Academics and researchers working in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cyprus denounce in a letter the genocide taking place in Gaza, calling on the Cypriot Government to sever all relations with Israel.

The signatories of the letter denounce "the genocide being carried out in Gaza by the murderous state of Israel against the Palestinian people, with the support of the US, NATO, and the EU."

At the same time, they ask the Government to stop all relations and facilitation with Israel, as well as to "actively condemn Israel's crimes and oppose the Israeli-US plans for the total occupation of Gaza."

They also demand an end to the blockade on Gaza, so that medicine, food, medical aid and everything else the Palestinian people need can reach it, as well as the recognition of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The letter is signed by George Georgis, Sotiroula Giasemi, Costas Gouliamos, Gaia Zaccagni, Lefteris Zacharioudakis, Sofia Iordanidou, Andreas Kamilaris, Angelos Kassianos, Stefanos Konstantinidis, Kostakis Konstantinou, Ivi Lambrou, Antonis Michanikou, Michalis Michael, Nikos Moudouros, Daphnos Economou, Rita Panaoura, Pambos Papageorgiou, Chrysostomos Pashiardis, Maria Pelekanou, Andreas Piperidis, Nikos Rossidis, Leandros Savvidis, Dimitris Sarris, Emilia Stavrou, Dimitris Trimithiotis, Emilios Charalambidis, Anna Hatzipanagiotidi, Sofia Hatzipappa, Costas Christodoulides and Charalambos Chrysostomou.
