Since yesterday, when the issuance of the Fan Card for Cypriots over 18 years of age began through the Digital Citizen application, more than 1.000 of our fellow citizens have already added their Card to the application, in less than 24 hours, reported Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
Speaking to the media at the Presidential Palace, the Spokesperson said that this is a very simple and easy process, given that the citizen has an identified profile in CY Login, i.e. the common access mechanism to government systems and services.
"The fact that now the validity check of the Fan Card for the purposes of entering stadiums will be done through the Digital Citizen application, where security controls are implemented, is particularly important for enhancing security at sports matches," he said.
The Representative said that the validity of the fan card is ensured, as well as the identification of the holder's details, preventing any case of forgery or use of the Card by unauthorized persons.
He recalled that this is a measure that is part of, as the President of the Republic himself has stated, a holistic approach that the Government is implementing to create a safe and modern sports environment.
Technical High School

The Government Spokesperson also referred to the operation of the Technical High School, saying that the Government is bringing young people a school that meets the needs of the new era and gives them real opportunities.
"The start of operation of the Technical High School from the 2025–2026 school year marks a new era for Cypriot education. With its pilot implementation at Agios Stylianos High School in Nicosia and Polemidia High School in Limassol, students are given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills related to technology, construction, creativity and entrepreneurship," he said.
Mr. Letymbiotis said that this is a different school, which unites learning with practice, theory with the laboratory and school with life, explaining that students will choose between two directions, 'Mechanical Science' or 'Design and Construction' and will be taught in modern laboratories, with an emphasis on technology, digital tools, teamwork and problem solving.
The program will operate in the afternoons, with free lunch provided, and 20 teaching periods per week.
"It does not replace but rather complements general education, opening new paths for children who want to experience technical education early and gradually build their professional choices," said Mr. Letymbiotis.
He explained that this new structure adapts to the demands of the modern era, is linked to the needs of the labor market and supports technical and vocational education as an equal and not second-rate option.
