The President of the Republic will make a series of visits to areas of the region of Cyprus, announced the Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letympiotis.
In his statements to journalists today, at the Presidential Palace, Mr. Letympiotis said that "the President of the Republic will hold a meeting this afternoon with the representatives of the Mountain Countryside. The meeting will take place at 5pm, at the Amiantos Cultural Center, in Kato Amiantos.
With today's meeting, a series of visits-tours and meetings in the regions of the Cyprus region is being launched, with the aim, on the one hand, of the exchange of views between the social and institutional bodies, but also of making decisions that will act as catalysts in the development of the regions.
The choice of the Troodos area for the first meeting is recognition of its role as a provider of long-term economic, social, cultural and environmental contribution to the place.
The revitalization of the mountainous regions is for the Government and for President Christodoulidis himself a bet that we aspire to win through the planning and implementation of integrated policies, strategies and measures, with the active participation of the agencies being a necessary and essential component of all effort.
Requests have previously been submitted for issues that concern the regions, which have been studied and processed by the President and the relevant Ministers in collaboration with the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities, in order to have a productive discussion on our priorities today.
The meaningful revitalization of our mountain communities and regional areas requires strategic planning, vision and collaboration. As an executive authority, we seek the dialogue to draw beneficial conclusions that will lead to the adoption of specific measures, which will contribute catalytically to the building of conditions of prosperity, perspective and development for our countryside, with a view to the revitalization of the areas that are the lungs of Cyprus" .
