The Government is not influenced by any big-mouthed statements, inexpensive proclamations and continues with seriousness so that we can have a targeted social policy, said the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis on Thursday.

Speaking at the start of the session of the Council of Ministers, at the Presidential Palace, President Christodoulidis referred to the upgraded forecasts of the International Monetary Fund, through the latest World Economic Outlook, but also to Eurostat data, which showed that in the second quarter Cyprus presented the largest percentage reduction in the public debt ratio.

"The important work brings results, which help us - to comment on the issues of accuracy - to have a targeted social policy," said President Christodoulidis.

So, he added, "we continue with the same seriousness as always, we are not influenced by any big-mouthed statements, inexpensive proclamations, with seriousness in the triptych that we follow in terms of our economic policy in order to have a targeted social policy with a particular emphasis on the areas of health, education of social benefits, I mentioned it repeatedly".

Besides, he referred to his yesterday's visit to Amiantos, thanking all those who were with him, such as Ministers, General Directors, officials and officials while he expressed satisfaction for the presence of the people.

"We spoke very specifically, we made announcements that were costed, they were not promises, we referred to what we have implemented in these 19 months that people are feeling in the countryside in our mountainous regions," he said.

He added that "we are continuing with the implementation of what was mentioned the day before yesterday at the meeting, I want this dialogue that you are having to strengthen it even more with the world with the organized groups", he said addressing the members of the Cabinet.

He noted that the meeting in Asbestos was the first of its kind and that other meetings will follow in all the provinces of Cyprus "to make an evaluation of the projects we have implemented so far but also to make announcements about the next steps".

"Certainly in Amiantos as well as in the other provinces we will institutionalize these meetings, we did not go the day before yesterday to make announcements and then we forgot, we will go again next year, I repeat, for me the most important thing was the satisfaction I saw from those who attended and through their interventions", he concluded.
