An additional flight with a Lebanese airline is planned for late Friday night, the press representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Gotsis, told KYPE regarding the repatriation of Cypriots and members of their families.
Asked by KYPE about the transfer of Cypriots and foreign nationals from Lebanon, Mr. Gotsis said that an additional Middle East Airlines flight is planned for late tonight for Cypriot citizens and their family members who hold a residence permit in the Republic.
Asked about the number, he said that the process of the relevant lists is underway.
He also mentioned that Cyprus has so far accepted requests from two countries for the "Estia" project. One of the two countries is China, he noted, which involved the arrival by sea earlier this week of about 80 people. According to Mr. Gotsi, almost everyone has left Cyprus except for some people who were holders of relevant visas, while some more are expected to arrive. He noted that "this request is in progress."
Mr Gotsis also said that "there have also been four requests for assisted departure", including a request from Portugal involving 44 European citizens.
He explained that this concerns the aid for the departure of citizens of other countries who arrange repatriation flights for their citizens from Lebanon via Cyprus.
Asked about reports of the arrival of soldiers from Belgium, Mr. Gotsis said that any movement of forces from various countries is solely linked to a possible need to assist in the process of removing civilians.
