The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, expressed his satisfaction with the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, in a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, that he had today, Wednesday.

According to a written statement by Government Representative Constantinos Letympiotis, President Christodoulidis also expressed the readiness of the Republic of Cyprus to contribute in any way requested - considering that it is the EU member state closest to the region, but also that it is the state that maintains excellent relations with all the states in the region – both in the implementation of the agreement and in any other matter that is asked of it.

For his part, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, after thanking the Republic of Cyprus for the communication and the continuous and uninterrupted interest, informed President Christodoulidis about the details of the agreement and, in particular, the way of monitoring the implementation of what has been agreed.

President Christodoulidis and Prime Minister Mikati agreed to maintain the frequent communication they already have.
