The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, announced on Tuesday the announcements regarding the cooperation between Cyprus and the USA in the matter of sanctions.
Speaking in the morning at the start of the meeting of the Council of Ministers, at the Presidential Palace, President Christodoulidis said that yesterday new sanctions were imposed by the USA, to add that "today there will be new announcements regarding our cooperation with the USA on the issue of sanctions".
The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Monday imposed sanctions on 13 legal entities and two individuals, including a Cyprus-based company, for operating in the financial services and technology sectors of the Russian economy, including individuals who develop or offer services in virtual assets that allow the avoidance of US sanctions.
According to a statement from the US Department, five entities were included because they are owned or controlled by persons designated by OFAC.
