The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, arrived this morning in New York, where he will sit down to dinner with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres, and the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Mr. Ersin Tatar. The dinner will take place at 19:00 (New York time) at United Nations headquarters.
The aim of this meeting is to explore the prospect of resuming negotiations within the framework defined by the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
The President of the Republic with sincere political will comes to this meeting with the aim of holding a constructive, fruitful discussion, in line with international law and the framework of the United Nations which will be the springboard for the resumption of negotiations.
After the conclusion of the joint meeting, President Christodoulidis will make statements to representatives of the media.
President Christodoulidis is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Konstantinos Kombos, the Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letympiotis, the Greek Cypriot Negotiator Mr. Menelaos Menelaou and the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President Mr. Doros Venezis.
After the meeting, President Christodoulidis will leave tonight for Brussels ahead of the work of the European Council.
