Around the end of 2024, the bill to legitimize the profession of Artist will be forwarded to the House of Representatives for a vote, estimates the Deputy Minister of Culture, Vassiliki Kassianidou, while the Thymeli Plan will be submitted to public consultation soon with the aim of being announced around mid-March, as she said in her meeting on Wednesday with the President of DIPA-Cooperation, Mario Karoyan, as part of her series of contacts with the parliamentary parties.

During the meeting, according to an announcement by the Deputy Ministry, Mrs. Kassianidou referred to culture, noting that it can act as a driver of development with multiplying benefits, while through its utilization it can be the driving force for tourism, but also for the economy development of the place.

The Deputy Minister informed the President and the representatives of the party about the bill concerning the Status of the Artist, which aims, as she said, to support the artistic world to continue the important work it performs.

As far as the theater sector is concerned, the Deputy Minister spoke about the efforts being made to address the major challenges.

With reference to the Thymeli Plan, Mrs. Kassianidou mentioned that the Deputy Ministry has made changes, based on the recommendations that have emerged from the meetings with the involved bodies during the previous period.

He informed that the Thymeli Plan will be submitted to a public consultation soon with the aim of being announced around the middle of March. He further confirmed the will of the Deputy Ministry to proceed in the next period with holistic planning, which aims at the viability and sustainability of the theater space.

Mrs. Kassianidou then referred to the measures taken to promote cultural literacy and education, through the "Schools Ambassadors of Culture - Children Ambassadors of Culture" and Philanagnosia programs implemented this year as pilots, as well as the Youth Culture Card aimed at to give incentives to young people to participate in the cultural events of the place.

During the meeting, he also referred to the effort of the Deputy Ministry to introduce tax measures on the basis of the tax reform promoted by the Government.

Finally, he spoke about the priority given by the Deputy Ministry of Culture to Cultural Diplomacy, noting that the procedures for planning a strategy for cultural diplomacy with the aim of utilizing it for the promotion of Cyprus as a cultural center have progressed.

At the same time, during the meeting, issues related to the development of artists were discussed, and mainly promotional measures to support the music sector, as well as the issue related to the revision of plans related to the incentives granted to private museums with the aim of their sustainability.
