The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, is going to Athens today to attend a dinner organized in his honor by the Cypriot Shipowners' Association. On Saturday he will leave the Greek capital for New York where he will participate in the work of the UN General Assembly and have a series of contacts, focusing on the effort to restart the talks on the Cyprus issue.
As announced by the Presidency, among other things, the President of the Republic will refer to the challenges faced by Cypriot shipping, but also to the comparative advantages of the Cypriot registry, as well as to the synergies between Cyprus and Greece in the shipping sector at European and international level.
The President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will also attend the event.
From Athens, the President of the Republic will travel to New York on September 16, to participate in the work of the United Nations General Assembly, which he will address.
President Christodoulidis had said yesterday, when asked if there is anything new about his meeting in New York with the Secretary General of the UN and the Turkish Cypriot leader, that so far there is nothing.
