The President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis will participate in the European Political Community Summit in Budapest on Thursday.
On Friday, President Christodoulidis will participate in the informal European Council meeting, with the main topic of discussion being the future of European competitiveness.
President Christodoulidis, who is traveling to Budapest today for the work of the 5th Meeting of the Leaders of the European Political Community and the informal meeting of the European Council, is accompanied by the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raunas, the Deputy Government Representative and officials.
According to a written statement by the Deputy Government Representative Yannis Antoniou, in addition to the heads of states of the European Political Community, the heads of the institutions of the EU, NATO, the OSCE and the Council of Europe are also expected to participate in the Meeting.
Among other things, the work of the Synod will concern the economic security of Europe, as well as immigration, which President Christodoulidis will mention in his intervention.
On the margins of the Synod, the President of the Republic will have bilateral meetings with heads of state or government.
Tonight, the President of the Republic will attend a dinner of the leaders of the EU member states, as part of the Informal European Council, which will take place at the Hungarian Parliament.
The main topic of discussion during the leaders' dinner will be EU-US relations, regional developments and the situation in the Middle East.
On Friday, an informal meeting of the European Council will take place, with the main topic of discussion being the future of European competitiveness, based on the Leta and Draghi reports.
The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus on Friday evening.
