At 12 noon at the Nicosia Municipal Theater, the proclamation of the Members of Parliament and the Representative of the Maronite religious group elected during Sunday's parliamentary elections will take place.
The proclamation marks the beginning of the new parliamentary term. The first Plenary Session of the new Parliament will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1600.
The ceremony will consist of three parts: the announcement of the Members of Parliament who will secure a seat from the first allocation of seats, which will be made by the relevant Election Commissioners.
The announcement of the Members of Parliament who will secure a seat in the second allocation of seats will then be made, which will be made by the General Superintendent of Elections.
Finally, the representative of the Maronite Religious Group will be announced, which will again be done by the General Superintendent of Elections in his capacity as Superintendent of Elections of Representatives of Religious Groups.
Six parties managed to secure seats in the new House of Representatives. The most notable increase was made by ELAM, which doubled its seats and increased its percentage by 4%. AKEL maintained its number of seats and increased its percentage by 1,4%. DISY maintained its lead and its seats, recording a small drop in its percentage of -0,8%. DIKO recorded a decrease of 1,3% in its percentage and lost 1 seat.
Alma and Direct Democracy also achieved entry into the new Parliament, securing 5,8% and 5,4% respectively, while EDEK, DIPA and the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation also lost out outside Parliament.
The abstention rate was 33,09%. There were 569.182 registered voters and 380.851 voted.
