The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is traveling to Berlin today, Friday, to participate in an informal conference of the European People's Party (EPP).
According to Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbitotis, the conference aims to deepen the dialogue on issues such as the European economy and competitiveness, the EPP's work program within the European Union and developments at the regional and international level.
Mr. Letymbiotis said yesterday that the President of the Republic, in the context of his presence in Berlin, is expected to participate in high-level discussions and hold bilateral contacts with European partners, focusing on the challenges facing the European Union today, but also on the common prospects for its future. Moreover, on the sidelines of the conference, a meeting has been scheduled with the Chairman of the CDU (and one of the main candidates for the position of German Chancellor in the February 23 elections), Friedrich Merz.
President Christodoulides will be accompanied by Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou and officials. The President will return from Berlin on Saturday, January 18, upon the conclusion of the conference.
