The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis will have a meeting this morning with Pope Francis I at the Holy See.
President Christodoulidis, accompanied by his wife Ms. Filippa Karsera Christodoulidis and the members of the Cypriot delegation, will go to the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, where he will be received by the Swiss Guard.
Afterwards, he will have a private meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis and then a meeting in the presence of the Cypriot delegation.
This is the first meeting of President Christodoulides with the Primate of the Roman Catholic Church, which takes place on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the Holy See.
Afterwards, President Christodoulidis will meet with the Prime Minister of the Holy See, Cardinal Parolin.
Immediately after, the President of the Republic and his entourage will be guided around the premises of the Apostolic Palace.
Afterwards, the President of the Republic will go to the Sovereign Order of Malta, where he will receive an official reception and will have a meeting with the Grand Master, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Order. At the end of the reception, a Postal Agreement will be signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and the Minister of Finance of the Order.
Afterwards, the President of the Republic will sit down to an official meal hosted in his honor by the Grand Master.
