The President, Nikos Christodoulidis, and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, discussed the situation in Syria and energy in their private meeting, as KYPE is informed.
According to competent sources, the two leaders discussed the situation in Syria and energy.
The crisis in Syria, the same sources noted, creates the impetus for countries in the region, such as Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, to send a common message about the state of affairs to the European and international level in Syria.
It was also discussed that there would be announcements in the first quarter of 2025 regarding the commercialization of the Kronos field, which is managed by ENI, the same sources said.
In addition, the issue of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU in 2026 was discussed on the occasion of the release of €4 billion in immigration aid that Egypt expects from the EU.
€1 billion has been given to Egypt by the EU so far, the sources said.
