Ersin Tatar called on Phidias Panagiotou "not to succumb to the threats" and to publish the interview he gave him.
Tatar was speaking from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Star Cyprus.
The newspaper, titled "How will we make an agreement with this mentality?", writes that the two-hour interview between MEP Phidias Panagiotou and Ersin Tatar caused reactions.
According to the report, the government (of the Republic of Cyprus) reacted, while some on the Greek Cypriot side called him a fool and a traitor. Speaking to Ciuney Oruc from Azerbaijan, where he is, the Turkish Cypriot leader said that he spoke with Phidias for 2 hours, noting that “the man is an MP and a YouTuber with a very large number of followers.”
"He asked me why I was talking about two states and he also expressed his own views. But what a shame that in the south they made him out to be a traitor. How can we make an agreement with such a mentality? They don't even tolerate our voice being heard in the slightest."
The occupation leader said that what happened will be spread internationally and he will protest. "It is an obstruction of freedom of expression and thought. I thank Phidias very much. I knew there would be a reaction, but I could not imagine that all this would happen, that it would reach the point where this story would become so shameful. I thank this young MP very much for the courage he showed."
As a secondary issue titled "Erhiurman will agree with them and create a common state of half," Volkan writes on the top right of its front page, "no tolerance for the TRNC and its institutions. Lynching of Phidias because he met with President Tatar." It also highlights the statement of Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis yesterday on the issue.
