Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar will have a new meeting with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, before Easter, as he announced after their meeting, in the UN-protected area of Nicosia airport.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, in the presence of the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Colin Stewart, Mr. Tatar said that "we are positive, we want to achieve things that I hope in time we will be able to achieve."
Asked if the atmosphere was positive, Mr. Tatar said, “My friend Nikos has his own principles, I have my own principles. What is important is that we can have an exchange [of views] so that we can achieve things together, for both of us, Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.”
The important thing is to "resolve it in a logical way," he added.
He expressed hope that they would continue to do their best, adding that they agreed to meet again before Easter.
Mr. Tatar thanked the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Colin Stewart for his efforts.
Asked if they discussed the issue of the roadblocks, Mr. Tatar said "we discussed everything."
He said he was not in a position to say anything specific at this time but, he added, "I put my positions on the table very clearly."
