He reported that the expanded meeting on the Cyprus issue was discussed by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacekeeping Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, with the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, calling it a very productive and excellent meeting.
Ms. DiCarlo was speaking after the meeting she had with Mr. Tatar in the occupied territories, which lasted approximately an hour and a half.
"This is the second time I've visited the island, and I'm very happy to be here," she said.
The UN official said they had a "very productive meeting" where they also discussed "a meeting to be held next month, in a broader format."
We discussed, he added, a series of issues that could be discussed at this meeting.
Ms. DiCarlo said she will meet with the Greek Cypriot leader, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides, later, as well as with a group of women leaders "and of course with the negotiators later."
"We had an excellent conversation and I am again very pleased to be on this beautiful island again," she added.
