We are at the final stage regarding the issue of entry visas to the USA, said today the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, who is presiding over a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Speaking at the start of today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, at the Presidential Palace, and addressing the members of the Government, the President of the Republic said "I welcome Nikolas (Ioannidis) to the Council of Ministers and invite you all to stand by him in this great attempt to continue the holistic approach to dealing with immigration in which many Ministries are involved. An approach that brings results, this is important, and is also recognized by Cypriot society.

The second thing I would like to mention is the historicity and importance of the Strategic Dialogue agreement of the Republic of Cyprus with the USA and to invite you all to work for the implementation of the agreement, it touches many Ministries, many issues, such as energy, security, trade, investment attraction, research and technology, culture. So, everyone's cooperation is needed.

At the same time, we are in the final stage of achieving the goal of the Republic of Cyprus joining the US Program where Cypriot passport holders do not need entry visas, so I expect everyone to work towards the realization of this goal.

The third is that today we have an issue (in the Council of Ministers) for the support of the communities and the fire victims, not only in Paphos, but also in the other areas, Ypsonas and Farmakas. It has been recorded, it is important to respond, as we promised, to be able to use their property as much as possible, especially those who are in need for irrigation and other issues. We will then see if any adjustments need to be made, so immediately after the approval, today, I want to ensure that the relevant amounts are paid.

Also, today we will announce the extension of the support measures until the end of October, especially regarding the extension of the electricity subsidy, taking into account the high temperatures we have in Cyprus. The responsible fiscal policy we follow, which also leads to continuous upgrades of the Cypriot economy, allows us to have a targeted social policy and allows us, within this context, today to announce the extension of the subsidy and some other measures, which we will discuss later .

Today we will also have a special meeting of the Council of Ministers on issues of the Presidency of the European Council of the EU, which we are approaching in time. There will be a presentation by the Deputy Minister of European Affairs on what each Ministry should undertake, primarily where we are. We are at an advanced stage and this is positive, but a successful Presidency is a strategic goal of our Government. I'm sure we can do it, our experiences after 20 years in the EU and the recognition we receive are just some of the supplies that allow us to have a successful Presidency, but we have to prepare now."
