The Supreme Council of DISY, which met this morning, ratified the candidacy of the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis for the 2018 presidential elections.

This is not the time for experimentation, but it is again the time for responsibility, said the president of DISY Averof Neophytou, adding that Nikos Anastasiadis, in 2013, received chaos and handed over the state.
In a speech to the Supreme Council of DISY, Mr. Neophytou said that in really dramatic circumstances, Nikos Anastasiadis, made the necessary decisions, turning a deaf ear to populism and the voices that wanted Cyprus outside the Euro.
Today, he said, the budget is in surplus, with significant tax cuts, the state is entering international markets, unemployment has fallen, major private and public development projects are mushrooming everywhere, young people are regaining their confidence and everyone sees the market open.
Mr. Neophytou also referred to mistakes and omissions in the past five years, adding, however, that they did not bet on the country, nor did they threaten to throw the boat on the rocks.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, he said that for the first time Turkey was found to talk with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, on security issues, in the presence of the European Union. The negotiation, he added, did not end because of Turkey's refusal, however, this process leaves the Guterres framework and the clear position of the United Nations and the European Union that the guarantee system should be abolished.
The president of DISY also stated that neither populism should be allowed to lead again to economic uncertainty, nor the extreme positions in the Cyprus issue to endanger the security of Cyprus.

The stakes of the elections are to try recipes that are accompanied by checks without reciprocation or to continue without risk, the President of the Republic stressed in his speech to the Supreme Council of DISY.
The growth, he added, is based on the security created by the local government, noting that the new economic upgrade is not accidental, nor is it accidental that Cyprus can borrow from international markets at low interest rates.
After thanking DISY for its support, the DISY parliamentary group and its Ministers, President Anastasiadis stressed that the coming months should distinguish everyone from a sober campaign, since the work that has been produced speaks for itself.
