It is prohibited for the stations to show or broadcast the results of any polls related to elections seven days before the holding of any elections, in accordance with the Law, the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority reminded in a circular on Wednesday. The last day to view or broadcast the results of any polls related to the elections is Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 24:00, he notes.
Specifically, the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority "draws the attention" of Radio and Television Organizations to the provisions of article 46(1) of Law 7(I)/98 on Radio and Television Organizations, as subsequently amended, according to which: "It is prohibited to broadcasting or broadcasting by the stations of the results of any election-related polls seven days before the holding of any election”.
The Authority notes that it "expects that all organizations will take the necessary measures to comply with the provisions of the Legislation".
Considering, he adds, that the day of the election has been fixed as 5 February 2023, the last day for viewing or broadcasting the results of any polls related to the election is Saturday 28 January 2023 at 24:00.
Failure to comply with the content of the circular entails the taking of measures and the possible imposition of similar sanctions, in accordance with the provisions of the Legislation, the circular concludes.
