The Council of Ministers approved the Grant Scheme for Energy Storage Systems in conjunction with Renewable Energy Sources projects, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Giorgos Papanastasiou said after today's session of the body.
According to Mr. Papanastasiou, with a total budget of €35 million, an amount which, as he noted, has been secured through the Just Transition Mechanism, the Plan is addressed to natural and legal persons and will be announced, in the first phase, for grants through competitive tendering process to ensure the optimal economic allocation of resources.
He added that the Plan concerns the installation of storage systems in existing RES projects that had been implemented in the context of earlier support plans, including self-consumption projects with the net-billing method.
He added that the application period will begin on January 15, 2025, while the second phase of the Plan will follow with a budget of 5 million.
In addition, the Minister of Energy also referred to the decision to appoint the president of CERA, saying that the specific person and name will be submitted for consultation with the Parliamentary Energy Committee, after which the appointment of the person will be announced by name.
He also stated that a decision has been made to increase the members of CERA's senior management from three to five, with additional appointments being made after the approval of the bill by the House of Representatives.
