Stadium safety is one of the issues currently being addressed by the Council of Ministers, which is meeting under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
As President Christodoulides mentioned in his introductory statement at the start of the Cabinet meeting, today the 2008 legislation is being amended and what is important, among other things, is that the Police, now, in addition to the KOP, will have the right, in exceptional cases, to decide not to move fans, something that was until now the exclusive right of the KOP.
He hoped that the bill would pass through Parliament soon, while emphasizing that the executive branch will not allow the same phenomena to repeat themselves.
"The safety of both fans and athletes, but also of society in general, is our responsibility," noted President Christodoulides.
