The approval by the Council of Ministers of financial support of one million euros to 550 professional potato producers who were affected by the prolonged low temperatures last week was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Maria Panayiotou.
In her statements after the body's meeting, Ms. Panayiotou said that the decision in question is the first of a series of measures that she had announced after her visit to potato producers last Thursday, February 27.
He added that this is an extraordinary financial support for the additional expenses required for crops that are not 100% destroyed.
The Minister of Agriculture added that the Council of Ministers has also approved the payment of 3.815.000 euros to 1.248 beneficiary affected farmers for damages caused by adverse weather conditions in 2024, as well as the payment of aid based on the plan for wild plants.
