The Council of Ministers approved today, January 11, 2024, the proposal of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare to grant a lump sum for 2024 to Minimum Guaranteed Income (MIG) beneficiaries who receive a rent subsidy through the Rent Subsidy Scheme for Displaced Persons, Ill Persons and Other Persons.
This decision was deemed necessary following the decision of the Council of Ministers on 30 November which approved the horizontal increase of rent subsidies granted through the Rent Subsidy Scheme to displaced persons and sufferers.
Under the EEE Act, the amount paid as rent allowance is reduced by the amount received as rent from anywhere else.
The reduction that this decision would bring about in the provision of housing for beneficiaries of the EEE participating in the Rent Subsidy Scheme for Displaced Persons, Ill Persons and other Persons, will be compensated in full by the corresponding payment of a lump sum for 2024.
