Respect for the rights of the displaced and their legal owners is a basic obligation of the State, stressed today the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Costas Fytiris, during the meeting he had with a delegation from the Union of Displaced Communities of Famagusta.
As stated in a statement by the Ministry, during the meeting, issues of concern to the displaced communities of the Famagusta district were discussed, with particular emphasis on the issue of the usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied areas, which is causing intense concern among the displaced.
At the same time, as noted, there was an exchange of views on other issues related to crime prevention and enhancing citizens' sense of security.
The Minister of Justice stressed that the State is closely monitoring issues concerning the properties of the displaced, reiterating that respect for the rights of the legal owners is a matter of principle for the State.
