The cooperation of Ministries and District Self-Government Organizations is needed in order to have appropriate coordination to find solutions to the various problems that exist, for the good of the world and to upgrade the daily life of citizens, said today the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis.
In statements after a meeting with the President of the Provincial Self-Government Organization (EOA) of Larnaca, the Minister said that in the meeting with Angelos Hatzicharalambous and his colleagues, they had an "excellent opportunity to listen to the challenges they have to manage, to see how we can to cooperate, how can we help, so that EOA can respond to what it has undertaken".
He added that "we have also discussed how the EOA can help the Ministry, it is a two-way relationship, it is a collaboration, a help that must be there that will help us at the end of the day to complete and serve our role, which is only to help the public and upgrade the everyday life of citizens".
After the meeting, the Minister said "I leave wiser, I know better everything that Angelos and his team face in everyday life. We have determined next steps, at the next meeting to discuss in depth some problems in order to come up with some solutions" he said.
Asked which part of the TA reform falls under the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Vafeadis replied that "there are issues that are horizontal, there are issues such as flood control projects, which at first glance may be the responsibility of the District, but the whole is also involved Ministry because we once undertook to implement some anti-flood projects. We still have the sewage issues at the port, which were affected by the termination of the contract with KITION".
He also mentioned that "there are issues that are not only the responsibility of one Ministry, they are of various Ministries, but if we do not cooperate with other Ministries and with the Provincial Self-Government Organization, I think there will not be proper coordination to find solutions".
He emphasized that "this is what comes out of this meeting today, that it may be necessary for the Ministry of Transport, EOA and other involved Ministries to hold some coordination meetings so that solutions can be found and for the good of the world, what will be next steps".
For his part, the President of the EOA of Larnaca, Angelos Hatzicharalambous, described the meeting with the Minister of Transport and the officials of the Ministry as "excellent", "in which issues that concern the EOA of Larnaca and issues related to the ongoing reform" were discussed.
He added that "we are in full coordination and consultation with the Ministry and I believe that the effort being made at EOA Larnaca is collective and the Ministry and the Minister are definitely participating in this effort so that we can really provide solutions to the problems we face and be able to to provide the quality services that both we and the central government set as a goal with the TA reform".
Mr. Hadzicharalambous also mentioned that through the information the Minister received, they found common solutions, common goals and set the next steps. "We are in full agreement and I really feel very satisfied with the meeting", he said and assured that "with the Minister and the Ministry we will solve all the problems, implementing these goals, in the difficult effort we have to carry out".
